The coach goes viral online for this one act of kindness during a children’s basketball game.

Teachers, despite their crucial role in society, often receive the least compensation.A person who dedicates their life to teaching, counseling, and mentoring the next generation is a rare find.

There are countless examples of educators who go above and beyond to support their students.

One example is Jonathan Oliver, a physical education teacher at WG Nunn Elementary School in Valdosta, Georgia, who was recently recognized for a selfless act during a preschool basketball game he supervised.

He would gladly help any student seeking assistance.

Oliver, the kindergarten basketball coach of Kristen Paulk, stepped in to help her tie her hair into a ponytail when she needed assistance.

With unwavering focus, Oliver removed Kristen’s hair from her eyes and squatted down to her level on the basketball court. Unknowingly, his actions were recorded.

The caring act of the coach was captured on video by Kandice Anderson, a teacher at the elementary school. She later shared the video on YouTube, where it received widespread praise and positive feedback.

The video was titled « When Teaching Goes Beyond the Classroom! » and quickly gained viral attention.

After the clip spread, Good Morning America contacted the 34-year-old father of three.

« It surprised me that it garnered so much attention because we all do these things, » Oliver told Good Morning America, noting he didn’t know he was being recorded.

« We as teachers strive to create an environment where students feel at home and really enjoy being here, » he explained. « We endeavor to show them as much care as possible. For me, it was just tying a ponytail. »

The caring coach shared that Kristen had asked him to help her tie her hair into a ponytail for the basketball game. While he often helps his daughter with her hair, he was unsure about anything beyond that.

« It’s fortunate she asked for a ponytail. Anything else, I’d say, ‘You better ask your mom,' » he joked.

Miyah Cleckley, Kristen’s mother, told the outlet that the video deeply moved her. She expressed confidence that her daughter is well cared for when she’s with him.

« I always trust that Kristen is in excellent care with him. It was heartwarming because he often does her hair. We have five daughters and one son, so when I’m busy, he takes responsibility for styling their hair. »

There are numerous examples of educators going above and beyond for their students, and this is just one instance. They are undoubtedly heroes.
